Sally Mann probably everyone's favorite Southern American Photographer...... images from "Immediate Family" 1992. Tons of iconic photos in this book.My personal favorite is her fifth book " What Remains" 2003. Amazing, mind blowing, totally ground breaking. All i will say is her obsession with photographing death began when her beloved greyhound died. she emotionally captures every stage of the animals body, naturally decompound. In the end she is left with only a few tufts of delicate fur and a couple of thin, bleached, brittle bones. She gently cares and tends to them, for her final photograph of the dog. All her work captures such a heightened, uncultivated emotion. Although "What Remains" presents all the beautiful and exalted realities of true life and death.
